Ok, A litle off the beaten path. This video was the result of a healthy discussion with the Train Gawd as it relates to who makes a better engine; GE vs EMD. We compared the Uboats and the first generation of SD to the modern era. Although a bit boring and this could be categorized in the" Who CARES" colum. I took this as a historical value as some euthusiasts of other industries may also like the of an engine in there perspective hobby. For me , Im partial to GE because the engines comes to life as they take on hard jobs. Im reminded of a brief moment several yeas back before CSX standardize local switching with GPs, they use an Uboat to run 0717. I got up close and personal as it was the best thing I ve seen in railroading. It was with a more experience crew as they manu=euvered the flying switch as if they invented it. The sounds were unreal as the uboat backed up , pull forward , sit idle, & even rest. It took on a personality as it worked it frieght. Ok , todays P42 are carrying the tourch with ease. In this shot, the trailing unit screams the generator for powering the passenger cars as it sits idle. The Lead unit bellows a sub bass bark like a stockcar before the green. Ahh hell , enjoy the sounds and the show. tired of typing
