The Representatives Council's Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee chaired by Mohammed Al-Sisi Al-Buainain, today met with Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa to review the constructive outcomes of the Peace to Prosperity workshop recently hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Foreign Minister briebfed the committee on the fruitful results achieved by the Peace to Prosperity workshop, which was held as a result of the Kingdom of Bahrain's keenness to establish security, peace, development and prosperity in the region. He affirmed Bahrain's supportive stance to the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent State within the July 4, 1967 borders with Al-Quds as its capital.
The minister also briefed the committee on the measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain following the unacceptable attack on its embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, which were taken in collaboration with the Iraqi officials who condemned the attack, highlighting that Bahraini embassies play a vital role in protecting and serving the interests of citizens, and that obstructing their work is unacceptable.
The minister commended the national role played by the committee members in maintaining the homeland’s security and stability, noting their keenness to enhance cooperation and consultation with the executive branch about local and regional issues and preserving Bahrain’s achievements made at the regional and international levels. He expressed appreciation of the legislative branch’s rejection of Qatar’s practices and attempts to ignite discord and sedition among the cohesive Bahraini community.
The committee chairman lauded the minister’s enthusiasm to constantly discuss with the Council of Representatives issues that concern the homeland and citizens, underlining the minister’s tireless efforts to boost Bahrain’s international standing and international relations, stressing the Representatives’ support for his patriotic efforts.
The committee members denounced the heinous attack on the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Baghdad, which is in violation of international laws and immunity of diplomatic facilities.
The meeting also discussed the latest regional developments, and affirmed Bahrain’s rejection of all forms of violence, extremism and terrorism, underscoring its commitment to cooperate with the regional countries and its allies to confront the practices carried out by Iran and all Iranian-backed terrorist militias.
