That go-go dancer's really got it going on! Who is she? I'd like to know. This comes from the rare beach party movie, "It's a Bikini World" (1967). Just a few years after this, Pat & Lolly Vegas formed the iconic band, Redbone. In 1974, Redbone was blessed with their most popular hit, "Come and Get Your Love". They weren't well-known musicians at this point, despite having played in the Shindogs house band for the popular TV music show, "Shindig". After their Shindog days, the brothers kind of kicked around with different musical projects until they finally established themselves with Redbone, which was "their" band from then on. Lolly Vegas, the leader of the group, died on March 4, 2010 after a years-long battle with cancer. I really like this song, as well as all the early Redbone material. It's a shame they never recorded this during their Redbone days. The brothers look pretty clean-cut in this video. In only a few years later, the whole Redbone band really decked themselves out in Indian garb. Fans of Redbone and the Vegas brothers should get a kick out of this vintage clip. The "nerd" and his redhead girlfriend are none other than beach movie legends Tommy Kirk and Deborah Walley. The bearded man at the end, called Daddy, is Sid Haig. This is a rare role for Haig for a number of reasons. For one, he has hair. Second, he's a good guy in this movie and not a villain. Third, beach movies wasn't his usual work. Haig made a successful career of playing bad guys in all kinds of action movies, horror movies, and TV shows. This is one of the few times he plays a cool, likable character.
