American-born Kamran Ince composes music inspired by both his Turkish and American roots. His piece “Gloria (everywhere)” sets poetry by Rumi to winding melodies that convey the search for the divine.
The music climbs upward and reaches its peak with the line: “Moslems and Christians and Jews / raising their hands to the sky / their chanting voice in unison / begins to arrive.” These words express the hope for worldwide peace that has inspired our March concert program.
