Philadelphia (1993) Goodbye Philadelphia

Philadelphia is the story of a brilliant lawyer gay "Andrew Beckett" (peak of his career) played by Tom Hanks who is unjustly fired because he has AIDS. Andrew is defended (in the case against the lawyers who have fired him) from "Joe Miller" who was also lawyer, played by Denzel Washington, who initially shows indifference to the cause, but then becomes sensitive to Andrew and decide to defend him. Also co-starring Jason Robards, Mary Steenburgen, Antonio Banderas, Joanne Woodward. Directed by Jonathan Demme. Tom Hanks thanks to this extraordinary performance won his first Academy Award.
