President Edgar Lungu has donated to the Lusaka central and kamwala correctional facilities. The donations are a fulfillment of the promise he made when he visited the two correctional facilities two weeks ago. The donated items are electric pots, stoves, fridges, plasma TV sets and computers. Speaking during the handover at Lusaka central prison, president Lungu urged all Zambians to embrace the spirit of forgiveness. He said prisoners needed to be shown love so that they reform and become better citizens. He called on prisoners who will be pardoned next month not to abuse the presidential pardon. And president Lungu said he has forgiven everyone that offended him before, during and after the August 11 general elections. He said all humans are bound to make mistakes and thus the need to forgive them. President Lungu called on Zambians to rally behind him as he takes over the five-year mandate. meanwhile correctional service commissioner general Percy Chato said president Lungu visit signifies the importance he attaches to prison reforms and humanity as a whole. He said he is happy that government is working towards building modern correctional facilities to reduce overcrowding. And speaking on behalf of other inmates Kelvin Kafwisa who is serving a 25 year sentence for Espionage bemoaned the delays in trials and appeals. He also called on government to provide adequate transport for inmates in order for them to attend trial. Ends//////////////////
