This video offers a closer look at the 3-9x40 Osprey Worldwide scope. Along with a review of it's performance. The scope comes equipped with a Mrad type reticle, which is illuminated by a single 3V CR2032 battery that is located in the the illumination selector atop the eye piece at the 12 o'clock position. The Osprey 3-9x40 has a duplex style reticle that uses hash mark indicators along the bars to denote milliradian subtention. Initially, the scope gave good performance out to the 380 yd / 350 m range but after about 80 rounds of testing the point of impact began to shift unpredictably in a rightward direction. Point Of Impact became erratic, a 3 shot group placement of 1.25" could easily be achieved only to have the next group balloon out to 3.5" and then have the following group back down to 1.25", this occurred while using two different brands of ammo. I suspect that the reticle apperture has become loose. I stopped testing of the scope at around 120 rounds due to frustration with the scope. I don't know if this problem is typical of the Osprey brand of scopes or if I have a defective scope that could be repaired under warranty, so I'm not condemning Osprey brand products. This is a low end scope and I have no expectations of any stellar performance. But after a quick comparison of the Osprey to the Nikon Prostaff, It's obvious that higher quality scopes exist at just a slightly higher price. Overall this scope does not fit the requirements which I have for my PTR-91 / DMR project, so this scope will be removed from testing. A second look at the Osprey Worldwide scope may happen in the future, but for now, The DMR project is the priority.
