Part of my Obscure First Person Shooters series: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=2BBA1AB1CF53EEAC Gameplay footage from Quake 2: Unseen, an unreleased expansion pack for Quake 2 featuring a new singleplayer episode, new monsters (kinda), new weapons (kinda), and new bosses (kinda). Following the great success of the original Quake and its two official mission packs, many mod teams were eager to develop their own similar packs for the upcoming Quake 2. Among these were three UK teenagers who formed a group called Tequila Software. Their announcement of Unseen, a followup to Quake 2's story, drew a great deal of attention, including that of id Software themselves who cited copyright infringement against the group for calling their project a mission pack. The team avoided legal troubles by renaming it to an expansion pack, and soon a publisher was found. While the expansion was completed, the team was unwilling to pay the license agreement fees to Quake 2's rights holders, hence Unseen ultimately went unreleased. Tequila Software then moved on to develop an expansion pack for Blood 2 called Revelations, but due to the game's poor sales, Revelations too went unseen. (Get it?)
