QuakeStyle Unbound v1.2 introduces a host of changes from new weapons and retooled classes to new monsters and improved difficulty settings. Below is a rundown of the major changes. Class-Exclusive Weapons Every class now has their own unique starting weapon with their own sprites, sounds, name, etc. No longer is it just the same guns with different stats! These are meant to be suitable, but usually not ideal, main weapons that encompass what that class is best at - something you can always fall back on. On that note, the Doomed Guy class has been swapped out for the Gunslinger, giving the roster a class that specializes in hitscan bullet weapons. Guest Weapons Just for fun, we decided to incorporate weapons from games that are technically outside the scope of the mod. We did take some creative liberties, and one is more what we think would be fitting in that game's universe (the Hyperion, a Borderlands-inspired double rifle). X-Spawners On higher difficulties, the regular monster spawners are replaced with harder versions. These will often bias toward spawning harder monsters, and several will even drop higher-tier spawners entirely. On Hurt Me More difficulty, nearly every spawner is replaced with an X-spawner. Turrets I bet you almost never pay attention to the evil eyes that decorate several maps, both vanilla and custom. Well, you will now, because they'll fire at you on sight! On high difficulties, metal pillars and floating skulls will be replaced by Core Tentacles that will do the same. This makes E3M6... interesting. A Flashlight Not the awful Doom 3 flashlight. This is a persistent item you can toggle with a quick press of the zoom key. Pressing zoom again, fire, or alt-fire, will immediately switch back to and/or fire your current weapon. A Six-Barrel Shotgun Because we needed a ballistic superweapon, that's why. Combo Fire Modes I'll let you figure that one out for yourself. Links! Current Release Version: http://zorasoft.net/doom.html Beta Build: https://github.com/BrianCWillis/QuakeStyleUnbound You'll notice a few differences between the build shown in this video and the current beta build such as the barrels and a few monster properties. This was recorded the day before those changes were made.
