Correction:
I'm running Pinnacle Studio 17 Ultimate 32bit(x86) NOT 64bit(x64) as I mentioned in this video tutorial.
My videos import perfectly in Pinnacle Studio 17, however, when
i click on play or add a video to time line and click on play,
no video image is being displayed. I can only hear the
sound/audio from the video. The Preview screen is grayed out.
Now, in this video tutoral i'll show you how to download and
install(a quick fix/patch)a required file to solve this issue.
Before we begin, the method below or video tutoral, worked
perfectly for me. I hope if you try it, that it work for you
too.
First, download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from
Microsoft website.

I have a pc running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit(x64).
Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 17 is 32bit (x86)

Fyi., Windows 8.1 Pro x64 comes with Directx 11, but it doesn't help with the Pinnacle Studio 17 video display.
As far as i know, only DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) or (June 2009) will work.
Fix in a Nutshell:
1. download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from Microsoft website.
2. Extract with winrar/7-zip/winzip, etc..
3. Double click and Install the "DXSETUP.exe" file from the extracted files. 4. After Installation is completed, run Pinnacle Studio, import a video, press play.
5. Enjoy your Video Editing again :)
Pinnacle Studio 16 will tell you that, DirectX End-User
Runtimes (June 2010) is necessary/required during installation.
Pinnacle Studio 17 does NOT tell you anything about the,
DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) file during installation.
Which is why PS17 had the video display issue. It was missing
the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) patch.
I hope this video help you solve this annoying problem.
Thank you.
