Radiance: new music based on the drawing of Ron Shuebrook

Saturday, 28 June, 2014, MSVU Art Gallery invited this trio of outstanding musicians to translate image into sound, using renowned artist Ron Shuebrook's drawings as graphic scores. The musicians, Lukas Pearse (double bass), D'Arcy Gray (vibraphone), and Jackson Fairfax-Perry (saxophone), took their cues from the richly textured lines in black compressed charcoal and the erased remnants that dance across the paper's surface. The improvised performance, documented in this video, captured the self- assurance and indecision at play in Shuebrook's work.
