I absolutely despise being in airplanes. Even though I've nearly killed or mangled myself dozens of times in my car since I've started driving and I know that flying is safer it's an irrational fear none the less. In the past when I was in my teens and early twenties I didn't have issues getting on planes and flying. Back then it was also considered less safe. Even though I know full well that it's more dangerous flying the driving I can't shake the fear and dread every time I get on a plane. Ironically I live next to an airport and if I look out my window I can see hundreds of planes flying by each and every single day. I take pictures of them, make videos so for my fear to be there makes no rational sense. That's why women are more afraid of men and rape. The less rapes happens the more women will be afraid of getting raped. It makes no sense but the less something happens the more people are afraid of it. Imagine if you never had a needle put in your arm you're going to paralyzed with fear thinking about. But over the last year I've had needles put in my arm over half a dozen times so it doesn't really phase me. In the past men were far more aggressive sexually so women took precautions and lived with the fear of getting groped and sexually assaulted. But as sexual assaults and all violent crimes have fallen to one quarter of where they were in 1993 when compared to 2013 the amount of fear has gone up. Rapes are down but fear is up. The two appear to be inversely proportional. Just like I mentioned airplane deaths are going down with each passing year but my fear went up over the last five to ten years. The two are inversely correlated. As men we tell women that rapes are down and that men are becoming bigger and bigger pushovers but women don't believe that because they heard from a friend of a friends aunt that some guy tried to grope a woman at a bar. So they all freak out.
