As you undoubtedly realize, now that you have inspected the sample sentences, this lesson is about leaving in one way or another and this first sample sentence is about flying mice, otherwise known as bats! Летучие мыши вылетают из пещеры по ночам. (Bats leave the cave at night.) Okay, so referring to bats as flying mice or летучая мышь seems a little strange, but you must admit that it makes sense, sort of anyways. But that is besides the point, the word of interest here is вылетают which is a form of вылетать which means to fly out or to leave or depart by plane. Sample sentence number two goes like this: Она сердилась, когда уходила из дома. (She was angry when she left the house.) Here we see уходила which is a form of уходить and which means to leave. Now for sample sentence three: Медведь оставил следы на снегу. (The bear left tracks in the snow.) First of all, оставил is a form of оставить and оставить means to leave. Also of interest here is the word следы which is a form of след and which means track, footprint, or trace. Moving on now to sample sentence four: Они ушли без разрешения. (They left without permission.) Of course, ушли is a form of уйти and уйти is the perfective form of уходить. However, the focus word for this sentence is a form of разрешение which means permission or approval. The final sample sentence is as follows: Кто-то оставил открытую дверь. (Someone left the door open.) The focus word in this sentence is a form of открытый and открытый means open. And now for some fun bonus sentences: Оставь в покое эту сумку, она не твоя! (Leave that bag alone, it's not yours!) Не уходи! (and) Не покидайте меня! (Don't leave me!) Шесть минус два равно четыре. (and) Шесть минус два равняется четырём. (Six minus two leaves four.) Больше ничего нет поесть. (and) Поесть ничего не осталось. (and) Никакой еды больше нет. (There isn't any food left.) Как(когда) доедите горох, можете выйти из-за стола. (and) Как(когда) доедите горох, можете встать из-за стола. (When you finish your peas you may leave the table.) Убирайся! (and) Проваливай! (and) Уходи от сюда! (and) Уйди отсюда! (Go away! / Leave from here!) Эта машина оставляет желать лучшего. (This car leaves much to be desired.) And another way to say "They left without permission." is: Они ушли без спроса.
