Regular plastic this is common . then there is the more rubbery ones ones used by Apple and some other companies as well. Then the new in is the nylon braided cables I really do feel these are much stronger and they are also easier to roll up they don't really get bent if they are stepped on they will be fine. Another thing is that in my humble opinion they look better. This cable is 10 feet long which is for some reason not as popular as I thought it may be. I mean yes it can get in the way sometimes but you always need that long one. For an example sitting in the back of a car and you want to charge your phone you don't want it sitting in the front the long cable allows access while you are charging. Or if you don't have an outlet in the bathroom or near you bed. Basically you get it. CHARGING a lot of ppl are under the impression longer cables equil longer charging, it is true but it only make a tiny differrence. I did an experiment with 3 different size cables and the longer it was the longer it took. The ten foot one took about a minute and a half longer than the 6ft and the 6 foot 1 minute and a half longer than the 3 ft. Assuming you are starting from 0% and charging at 2.4a. THIS CABLE.
