Richmond Responds: 2009 Safety Net Fund

In November 2008, the board of The Community Foundation committed $1 million to create the 2009 Safety Net Fund. This commitment was matched nearly dollar for dollar by local corporations, other foundations and individual donors. With this support, we were able to provide critical support to nonprofits in the metro Richmond area that were hardest hit by the economic downturn. In most cases, they are organizations that meet basic human needs such as emergency financial assistance, housing assistance, food and health care. We share this video to illustrate the impact of what we have been able to achieve together.
