Glitches in Rise of the Tomb Raider! Again, I don't know anything about this game's glitches, skips etc. For all I know these could all be day one glitches... Nonetheless here they are. twitter.com/findlestick Points of interest: 1. Another airwalk location. Note the 2D soldiers. You can explore the entire map OoB. 2. A weapon break-out that lets you combine the animations of one weapon, but while holding a completely different weapon. There are many combinations that can be done, I just showed a few. Instructions: (I) Beforehand, completely empty the weapon ammunition of the weapon that you wish to have its animation glitched. (II) Select that same weapon, jump in the air, keep aim pressed while in air (and pressed for the rest of the instructions). A few frames after both of Laras feet have just hit the ground, switch to a different weapon (the timing is semi-difficult at first). If done correctly, Lara will be in the pose of the weapon with no ammunition, but while holding the weapon that you switched to. Common effects of this glitch: animations belonging to a weapon-pose are done on the gun she's holding, also looks amusing when reloading. When the pose belongs to a two-handed weapon, one of Lara's arms is twisted behind her back. Notice that during glitched bow pose, the arrow on her back gets pulled up above her head when doing charged shots. Not in vid: the above are the results when switching from an unloaded weapon to a loaded weapon. However, you get completely different results when switching from an unloaded weapon to another unloaded weapon, but the results aren't as interesting. Also, the glitch can't seem to be done when switching from a loaded weapon to another loaded, or unloaded weapon. I also did the above method while on a branch, but instead of jumping, I climbed up to a cut-off branch then dropped to another branch. Lara gets stuck in a T-pose. 3. Graphical Axe glitch - If you have machine gun selected, then jump onto a grapple wall, switch weapon to handgun/Uzi as you attach yourself to it, then jump off, Lara will have the Axe stuck to her hand for nearly any other action, even while swimming, in menus, cutscenes (not in vid). But this is just graphical. 4. The "Axe-slide" - Don't know if this is known, but couldn't find a mention of it anywhere. Anyway, if you flick aim very late after an Axe swing, it causes a minor break-out where Lara's arm becomes glitched behind her back. However, if the timing of flicking aim is done a little earlier - just as the Axe's swing-animation is about to end - the break-out causes Lara to try to pull her gun out while she's still technically holding/swinging the Axe. This causes Lara to get stuck in Pose. Note that flicking aim is exactly that. A flick. Note that it doesn't even register as 'aiming' when I do it in this video. It's an extremely brief input. Things get more interesting if you do this while moving... Lara gets stuck in her pose but while sliding. Testing this state: (I) The only inputs that can end this state are d-pad or aiming. If you select the d-pad corresponding to the weapon that the game thinks that Lara has active, but after sliding off a ledge, the game thinks that you are still on ground and lets you do a jump in air resulting in a long jump. This also lets you do advanced platforming like jumping back around walls to OoB locations or jumping around walls into an upwards scramble. (II) If you slide into a trigger that normally forces Lara to stop in place to watch an in-game scene. Lara will continue sliding through it. Most times the scene data is buffered, and you can activate it to take place at a later time by pressing d-pad/aiming. I showed some examples in this vid, such as at a "shimmy" ledge, the bear scene and at a collapsing tunnel. I wonder what would happen if you buffer more than one scene, then activate them simultaneously? I also showed Lara bypassing a cutscene trigger completely. (III) A speed trick at a shimmy ledge, you aren't forced to watch a scene of soldiers, you can just slide through the shimmy. (IV) You can quickly move through thick snow while sliding. (V) A rare version of the slide glitch which lets you control its direction, haven't looked into it much yet... nor have I tested if I can "freeze" other animations, or use the 'flick break-out' on prompts. (VI) You can easily go up those slippery slides with this glitch, and at some places you can ascend your way up some mountain OoB, despite the angle/slipperyness. Also, if you end the state while keeping aim pressed, and hitting some object while sliding upwards, Lara will awkwardly slide down in a T-Pose. (VII) While testing slide glitch at a slope, I got stuck in the slippery slide's animation, and Lara slid all the way OoB to her death (?). Wonder if any of this works in Tomb Raider 2013, I know nothing about that game...
