'Famed for the heroic rescue of survivors from the RMS Titanic, April 15, 1912, the RMS Carpathia would eventually meet the same fate, ending her career on the sea floor. 'RMS Carpathia was used to transfer American troops to Europe during World War I. She was part of a convoy when she was torpedoed by German submarine U-55 off the coast of Ireland on July 17, 1918. The Carpathia would list to port and sink, bow first, her stern sliding under the waters at 0245. Thankfully, the 157 passengers and surviving crew were rescued by HMS Snowdrop the following day. 'On September 9, 1999, the wreck of the RMS Carpathia was discovered by the Argosy International Ltd on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. She was discovered as being upright and in one piece, 185 miles (298 kilometers) west of Lands End, the southernmost point of the English mainland. The next year, it was announced that the Carpathia was at a depth of 500 feet (150 meters) and that she had rolled over and landed upright on the floor, 120 miles (190 kilometers) off Fastnet, Ireland.' Though not a great loss of life, I find it strange that almost no one knows the fate of the RMS Carpathia, it is quite disappointing that the ship reknowned for saving the Titanic survivors is ultimately ignored by the masses. Testament to this is the fact that I was unable to find a wide variety of photos, nor could I find any photos of her wreck. EDIT: EDIT: Okay, so the actual song is Bodicea by Enya, not the mistaken registered 'Fire and Ice', of which I found it on here through. Eventually, I will fix this and repost. TCR
