TV movie telecast in two parts on NBC 1/31 & 2/1/1982 and was Emmy Award winning miniseries. Soviet paratroopers drop into Alaska to sabitage the oil pipeline in retaliation against a United States grain embargo. The danger escalates and leads to impending nuclear war When he first read the script Rock didn't want the role. In fact he didn't think the controversial story should be filmed. After more consideration, he decided that the message was an important one and accepted the role. The director Boris Sagal was killed while filming on location in Oregon.The third day of filming (5/24/1981) Sagal was struck by a helicopter blade. he was replaced by David Greene.
