I wanted thoroughly check the area just to see how I could miss with my first shot closer and not the second one much more difficult... I gralloched the doe and left her hanging on the tree for collection in the morning. Sunday morning I slowly walked the road up to the place I shot the doe. It was a bit too windy and crunchy under foot for any deer so I was not really hoping to see much. I looked around and could not see any pins or paint where the doe was standing when I shot the first time last night... So it looked like a clear miss... It was still early, so I went up along the forestry and soon in the dip sheltered from the wind was a doe and two buck kids. It was difficult place to stalk and the doe was on me already and one of the buck kids spotted me as well... I went back and between the trees and followed a narrow path under the canopy to get closer to the roe deer. I soon was close to where I wanted to be and spotted one of the kids. It looked like they calmed down and were still there. However, no chance of a shot as a large sitka tree was on the way. I was thinking what to do to get a shot through the branches when another kid popped up no more than 20m away and on my side of the low branches. I only could shoot free hand, but at that distance it dropped on the spot. The doe and the other kid ran away this time for good.
