Roqaya's Story: Syrian teen fights to walk after a double amputation

Roqaya is 14 years old. She lives in Irbid with her siblings and family in law. She was left severly injured in a bombing that killed her mum. Roqaya had to go through a bilateral ampuation a year ago. She received assistance from Handicap International to recover her mobilty and learn how to walk with her artificial limbs. She also received psychosocial support. Roqaya is 14 years old. She remembers Syria as a beautiful country where she and her friends and family had a good life until the war started. Last year she was speaking with her family when a bomb struck their home, killing her mother. Roqaya lost both of her legs.
