Royal Marines Cadets Plymouth Passing Out Parade Stonehouse Barracks

The Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps (RMVCC) was formed at Stonehouse Barracks in 1904 and as such, are one of the oldest cadet units in the country. There are currently two other units at Lympstone (CTCRM) and Portsmouth (HMS Excellent). Here we see Recruit Troop 1/12 passing out on 19 December 2012, after completion of 6 months of basic training. They are accompanied by the unit's Colour Party and Corps of Drums. The salute was taken by the Commanding Officer of 30 Commando, who are based at Stonehouse Barracks in Plymouth. This was the last parade of the year for the Corps of Drums, who typically perform at an average of 36 engagements a year and have all been taught the drum or bugle from scratch!
