Undulating dunes and swirling sands dominate a desert sculpted by dry winds. Encompassing 650,000 square kilometres, the Rub' al-Khali, also known as the 'Empty Quarter', is a vast expanse of silky desert. It is the largest uninterrupted sand desert in the world. Stretching from the UAE through to Saudi Arabia, its most prominent features are majestic sand dunes that reach heights of more than 400 metres.
