Russia remains one of world's three largest arms suppliers

The United States, Russia and France hold the lead in arms exports in the world, a recent report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said. The report was published on Monday, March 11.
According to the study, Russia holds the second place after the United States, France comes third with Germany and China following. These five countries account for 75% of the entire arms export market.
The new SIPRI report covers the period from 2014 to 2018. During this time, the United States has taken 36% of the global arms market, while the volume of Russian arms exports over the same period has decreased by 17% because of India's and Venezuela's declining imports.
In the past five years, Russia has shipped arms to 48 countries of the world with 55% of the total volume falling on India, China and Algeria.
