Online Milk Analyzer Could Prevent Contamination
An Israeli dairy farm management company, based in Afikim, has launched the first online milk analyzer in the world. Called Afilab, this new computerized system carries out online analysis of the milk of each cow at each milking session.
A device weighs the milk, which is then analyzed by sensors and the results are shown on line on a screen.
[Hagai Flexer, System Manager, S.A.E Afikim]:
"The device operates with a light beam that passes through the milk. And the sensors, together with the computer's algorithm, detects the milk components."
According to S.A.E. Afikim, this system is very safe and accurate and can detect any milk contamination issues.
[Sarai Kemp, Marketing Manager, S.A.E Afikim]:
"Through the Afilab you can monitor the level of protein all day long through the years, through the weeks, through the months. So nobody can really cheat the data because the data is accurate and it is sent automatically to the database of the milk company."
It's hoped this new technology can help prevent milk contamination worldwide, such as the latest melanin poisoning scandal that took the lives of hundreds of children in China.
