Safer Cities for Girls Like Us

Xuan, Ngat and Hyen live in Vietnam's capital city Hanoi, they want their city to be safer for girls. Plan Vietnam in partnership with Women in Cities International and UN Habitat undertook a Rapid Situation Assessment to discover how safe girls felt in the city. The consultation looked at girls access to basic services, mobility and access to public spaces. The results showed that 30% of girls never feel safe when walking in their communities. Using the data collected, Plan will work with government agencies, civil society organisations and young people to increase girls access to public spaces, participate in urban development and mobility in the city.
