In the 63rd minute of a scoreless battle in the 2019 CIF-Los Angeles City Section Division 1 girls soccer quarterfinals, San Pedro High forward Samantha Martinez would deliver one final time as she took advantage of an overplayed Palisades Charter defense. Once Kaley Sutrin found Martinez with a great pass after Martinez had initially been stopped by the goalie, Martinez would blast in a goal shot into the unprotected net. It was the only goal the Pirates would need to win 1-0 over the Dolphins on February 14, 2019, putting San Pedro into their second straight semifinal and upping their win streak to 14 games.
