In 2007 I was trying to make a pilot television show for Spike TV. I found a filmmaker named Steven Gabriel and he took the train from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara to film the pilot with me. He walked into a horror house. I was heavily addicted to crack and heroin. I had 50 pounds of mushrooms on my pool table. He saw the state I was in and decided that my life was more interesting then the show I wanted to film. He filmed over 1000 hours of footage like this. We had a falling out and he ran away from me — and took the footage. I went on to start selling drugs on a big scale. The feds eventually busted me in 2008 for my involvement with an international drug cartel that was based out of Mexico. I went to federal prison for almost five years. I wrote a cult-celebrated novel called Wasting Talent while I was in prison. The book was optioned by Will de Los Santos (Spun) and producer Chris Hanley (American Psycho). Nick Stahl (Bully, Terminator 3, Sin City) is signed on to play the lead. The film version will be called ‘Love in Vein’ — it’s currently in development. There’s also a documentary about my life story in production. It’s called IDIOT SAVANT: THE SAVAGE LIFE OF RYAN LEONE. I found the filmmaker Steven Gabriel when the documentary began filming. I bought the rights for all 1000 hours of footage and some of this will be shown in the film. It will come out next year. I’ll post more footage.
