Shires Chicago Model Tenor Trombone was conceived with the famous Chicago low brass sound in mind and features seven other features not found on any other of S.E. Shires’ trombones. Featuring a lightweight one-piece gold brass bell with a soldered bead wire at 8 1/2”, the Chicago Model Tenor Trombone is constructed on a T2 large throat mandrel and the result is an instrument with a broad powerful sound in a wide variety of colors. The S.E. Shires Chicago Model Tenor Trombone also features a wide .540” bore hand slide that is constructed out of lightweight nickel silver and features a nickel silver bass trombone crook that gives you a wide open feel paired with very crisp articulations. The unique TX tuning slide aligns the harmonics series in a way that is familiar to players of vintage instruments while retaining a dense chord of the sound. Available either with a dual bore rotary valve which maintains a true tenor trombone sound throughout all registers, or the S.E. Shires Axial-Flow valve that offers a very wide sound and broad feel. This package also includes three interchangeable yellow brass leadpipes that allow you to customize the sound and feel of the instrument to your own preference and taste. The S.E.
