Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has developed a naval version of its M151 Protector remote-controlled weapons station, used widely by the U.S. Army and multiple other land forces. The naval version is called Sea Protector and in April 2008 scored its first export sale, to Finland. That Scandinavian country will equip some of its Jurmo-class amphibious assault craft with the mount. Sea Protecyorn is also being offered to the U.S. Navy for its Remotely Operated Small Arms Mount (ROSAM) program. AVIATION WEEK's Defense Technology International (DTI (www.aviationweek.com/dti) has the full story in its combined July/August 2008 issue (p26). This video here is a promotional production issued by Kongsberg to DTI in May 2008.
