Sean Gunn explains ‘outrage overwhelmed common sense’ in James Gunn’s ‘Guardians’ firing

(31 Jan 2019) SEAN GUNN EXPLAINS 'OUTRAGE OVERWHELMED COMMON SENSE' IN JAMES GUNN'S 'GUARDIANS' FIRING James Gunn's brother Sean has defended his writer-director sibling, saying that "outrage overwhelmed common sense" over his firing by Disney in July 2018. Sean is an actor who has frequently appeared in his brother's movies, including playing Kraglin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in both "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies.  He was speaking at a tribute to Stan Lee Wednesday night (30 JANUARY 2019) in Hollywood. 52-year-old James Gunn was removed as director of the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" after 10-year-old tweets joking about rape and pedophilia resurfaced. At the time, the director was supported by the cast of "Guardians" in a joint statement on social media, while a number of other actors, journalists and media outlets expressed their disdain at his dismissal. James Gunn is currently working on the next "Suicide Squad" film, to be released in 2021. "Well, my brother is doing 'Suicide Squad 2' right now, which I'm really excited about, and I know he's really excited about, and I don't know what's going on beyond that.  I think 'Guardians 3' is going to get made.  We're going to make that movie and we'll figure out what happens there," added Sean Gunn.
