Senate Writes To Treasury to Withhold 4 Counties’ Funds

The senate has formally written to the national treasury to withhold allocations to four county governments, whose governors have declined to appear in person before the county accounts committee to answer questions on alleged misappropriation of funds. The letter by senate clerk Jeremiah Nyegenye is to inform National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich of the senate’s resolution on Thursday, suspending allocations to Kiambu, Murang’a, Kisumu and Bomet counties over audit queries. But as Francis Gachuri reports, provision of essential services in the four counties could be hampered.
