Hear me out please: Ive been working on ideas on drums before I even started playing. Im doing this to have fun soloing, I claim nothing to perfect ness. I am only showing how I practice playing to music. Ive been playing for 5 years, and Ive played a lot of genres, or really just speeds we can put into number form. Ive been into the concepts of off time everything I can find. MESHUGGAH- chaosphere and I, my favorites. One form of drums I havent tried is paradiddles. I dont think in L and R. I dont count while playing either. Though Ive seen the results using paradiddles and you guys are awesome! Im curious of your opinions too! My ideas are: To have the ability to play every speed, with every speed, with every speed, on any instrument. Because quite often our instruments in use are cymbal, snare, and bass. Four as well On/off time even/odd number capable. Snare is not always just the time keeper. Very important! Work off of every instrument (voice included) in the song (Accompaniment). Free hand tech/gravity blast capable (this can get tricky I have to not hit too hard when I single stroke otherwise it throws the recording off). Consider 2,3,etc. of any speed stroke instead of single stroke snare, cymbals, etc. Layering I know it sounds like chaos. Really its imagination, entanglement, endless possibilities (within four limbs of course). Though I have laughed, thinking about using my head as well! lol My style is to follow the rhythm with snare (right hand) (free hand use for sure), left foot on both hi-hat and bass almost always which realistically by it self adds another layer or number (Hihat 1 bass drum 2), or rhythm lol! bass drum follow snare and between the two: can dance in and out of the rhythm how ever I wish (nothing new here, just imagination), and my left hand plays cymbal speeds that dont match (meaning it sounds wrong, and unnorm making it unattractive, and actually more difficult to pull off! lol) and for sure changes a couple times or more each part of song. My left hand is my weakness, but if used correctly I can use it to my advantage in the last part; and its never messed me up playing any speed/drums/music out there, pretty much because if a person can do it with only one hand instead of two: DO IT. But Im working on my left ability w/ free hand on snare, and cymbals for sure! Im getting there. Everyone has weaknesses is what Ive noticed in all musicians. I can hold five straight speeds, between four limbs, and easily sing on top what ever rhythm. I can keep as many as four straight speeds while following on rhythm, an more. Screwing up isnt even really screwing up in theory, just dont stop playing!!! And you know, Some hide their weaknesses better, plain and simple. Everything has arguments, pro, cons; just complete entanglement everywhere. These videos are just me soloing, having fun, practicing to music, like I have since I started drums. I was bored with drums, and Id had some ideas before I even started. Any way, I love talking music. All I ask is try asking before assuming, and Ill try the same.
