With the #MeToo movement we are now, more than ever before talking about harassment, violations, boundaries, gender inequalities, trauma and their far reaching impact on individuals, communities and society in all areas of life. And yet, the most prevailing abuse; incest, is still a topic we shy away from. Incest is defined as forbidden sexual intercourse between family members but we will include any behavior that is sexually inappropriate for our discussion today – undesired touch, assault, rape, inappropriate exposure to nudity of self or others, sexually suggestive language, showing pornography, sexual grooming, abuse of power based on sexual activity, etc. Dr. Syeda Ruksheda is an eminent Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist, born and raised in Mumbai.
