Shia Waqf Board Chairman Rakes up Controversy With his Remarks on Madrassas

Following a letter written by the Shia Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath about madrassas, a debate on Hum Log whether such religious schools breed fundamentalism and also whether they should be brought under government scrutiny. Rizvi says on the show that madrassas have become opportunities for 'mullahs and maulvis to collect funds in the name of education'. Several Muslim organisations including the All India Muslim Personal Law Board have condemned his remarks.
