Apogee Instruments proudly introduces a high quality, cost-effective silicon-cell pyranometer for measuring solar radiation. Apogee pyranometers are widely used in agriculture and solar energy applications. In clear sky conditions Apogee pyranometers compare favorably to secondary standard reference pyranometers, at a fraction of the cost.

Apogee’s pyranometers are known for quality and durability.
00:54 As an industry leader Apogee’s pyranometers have been included on systems from some of the biggest names in environmental monitoring, such as Campbell Scientific, Columbia, Weather Systems, Torro, Rain Bird, and more.
01:10 As a research-driven company Apogee has carefully refined our pyranometer design and manufacturing process. All of our pyranometers are built at our headquarters in Logan, Utah.
01:41 Apogee pyranometers feature a dome shaped head that allows it to quickly shed water, dust, and debris. The self-cleaning design allows you to collect accurate data without worrying about keeping it clean.
02:28 A key pyranometer characteristic is cosine response or relative error as a function of solar zenith angle. Apogee has achieved excellent cosine correction through optimization of the diffuser material.
02:52 A sensor is only as good as its calibration. To ensure accuracy, each pyranometer is calibrated in tightly controlled laboratory conditions traceable to ISO reference standards. Apogee sensors are calibrated to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado standards
03:33 Models include: Our flagship SP-110, a basic self-powered sensor; the SP-212, amplified with 0 to 2.5 V output; the SP-215, amplified, with 0 to 5 V output; and SP-214, amplified with 4 to 20 mA output. To improve year-round accuracy, we developed the SP-230 with a raised stand and tiny 0.18 W internal heater that keeps the sensor clear. Handheld models are MP-100, integrated sensor, and MP-200, sensor attached with cable, are also available.
