Taking the weekends and summers off significantly retards learning. And sometimes kids need to hunker down for 3-4 hours a day on the subject at hand. It's in these periodic intense sessions when things start to really click. Rote methods imposed for 30 minutes a day, with scant individualized instruction doesn't and simply can't get the job done.
