Schistosomiasis--it is a big word to represent a disease that is transmitted by one of the smallest creatures you could think of, a snail. Patrick Hanington, assistant professor in the U of A School of Public Health, runs a research lab with a strong focus on schistosomiasis. "I am interested in learning how my research on this parasite applies to public health from a transmission and prevention standpoint," says Hanington.
"We are working on innovative research, publishing results and providing great learning opportunities to students."
