South Sudan: Three dead, UN condemns helicopter crash as "hostile act"

C/U Journalist W/S Conference hall SCRIPT The Deputy Special Representative to the UN Secretary-General, Toby Lanzer, spoke in Juba on Thursday about the UN helicopter that crashed in northern Sudan Tuesday, killing three Russian crew members and wounding one person. The remains of the three crew members were brought to Juba, Thursday. Lanzer said that the helicopter crash is being treated as a hostile act against the United Nations, noting that "helicopters fly, they don't fall out of the sky." Lanzer added that the UN is in possession of the black box and other significant materials, and that an investigation is underway. All upcoming UN flights to Bentiu have also been grounded. On Wednesday, the government of South Sudan accused rebel fighters of shooting down the helicopter.
