Orbital Alignment part 1
Before attempting a TLI the orbital plane of your spacecraft needs to be lined up with the orbital plane of the Moon. These are the basic steps to align orbital planes:
1) Open up the ALIGN MFD.
2) Set the Moon as your target.
3) Use TIME forwarding to get close to either the ascending or descending node. You are at the ascending or descending node when the line is vertically straight up or straight down. Applying a normal+/- burn at these points will bring your orbit in line with the target.
4) Once near the ascending/descending node, use the ORBIT planner to adjust normal. As the burn takes some time, you will eventually be faraway from the node that the burn is no longer decreasing the relative angle between the planes. When this happens, open the AUTOPILOT window and STOP the burn. Use TIME forwarding to go to the next node.
