It is obvious the game attempts to get you to pay at higher levels more specifically close to the last level up being level 50. The gold coins you pay for or get from daily challenges would take some time to get going the free route saving the coins everyday for the highest level gear. Also the money coins you get from winning/loosing gets high even at low levels forcing you to delete a character upgraded with perks you may have a hard time getting. This can also go for high level players because at that point you have the strongest gladiators you can buy for gold coins that you can upgrade with up to five perks. Your best bet is to defeat easier opponents offline to stack silver coins so you make sure you don't have to delete and buy a lower level gladiator all over again. It is a bit hardcore which in my opinion is not a bad thing. It is also a real grind to get to level 50 even with the double xp weekends. The biggest thing killing this game is the online bugs which according to the wiki seem to only be happening on the Xbox 360. The game is fun and will keep you busy especially if you like daily rewards that stack and keep you coming back.
