Spreading Love and Hope @ Bhutanese Refugee Camp in Nepal

I learned the Nepali language in Nepal in 1995. This video was shot in 2009 at a refugee camp processing center. IOM is the INGO hired by the UN to facilitate the process of moving refugees from the camps they've been living in to the airplanes that will take them to their new home countries. Along the way, IOM teaches cultural orientation classes, does the health and security screenings, and facilitates the transition. They operate like a sovereign entity within the country, operating their own transportation of thousands of refugees on their buses and charter flights, with fuel and generators that run when the electricity is out, past road blocks and other bureaucratic hassles and roadblocks. This video was shot in 2009 while I was filming a piece about the Bhutanese Refugee community growing in my neighborhood in Seattle.
