Stagg EC3000CN (Angel Lopez) electro-nylon guitar - 1st demo

This is one of 3 demos of this guitar that I have uploaded. The Stagg 'Angel Lopez' EC3000CN is an unusual instrument. It is also available in a high-gloss black finish. The one thing this instrument ISN'T is a silent guitar. Even when played unamplified, it can be heard very clearly but naturally, it doesn't have anywhere near the acoustic resonance of a traditional hollow-bodied classical or Spanish guitar. As such, it does make an ideal instrument for quiet practice. However, its true strength lies in its inbuilt ability to be amplified using the active AR-300 two-band EQ which provides both a really strong signal and effective, wide-ranging control of bass, treble and volume. As might sometimes be heard in my demo, when using maximum bass, the result can be a bit 'boomy', but the controls are so good that this is easily corrected by rolling back the bass a little. I was especially pleased by the ease with which the battery can be extracted and replaced using the slide-in drawer system. That's really neat and efficient. There is no On/Off switch and the connection seems to remain active. Batteries can run down after 2-3 weeks. Luckily, the drawer method for holding the battery makes removal and replacement very quick and easy. The guitar is slimline and both looks and, in some respects, feels like a Tele or a light Les Paul ... but at 5¼ lbs (2.4kg) is certainly isn't a lightweight! The Admira Capricho against which I compare it in the upload weighs exactly 3lbs (1.4kg). This makes the Stagg about 58% heavier. It's a VERY comfortable instrument to play both sitting down and by using a traditional strap. The buttons for straps are really good quality and accentuate the fact that this is no ordinary nylon-strung guitar. Also, unlike classical guitars which have a flat profile for the fretboard, the Stagg is more like an acoustic or electric guitar because the fretboard has a shallow curve. As I point out in the demo, the build quality is truly excellent and as can be seen, the guitar's lines and appearance are clean to the point of being stark. This might put folks off at first, but take my word for it that you can soon become a real admirer of its looks and feel. I have to admit that at first I was rather ambivalent about the appearance of the guitar, but once I started to play it and experimented with the EQ system, I was almost instantly converted. Even just to look at, the Stagg is so unusual as to be a real eye-catcher, but in the end it's the playability, build-quality and sound that really matters and in those respects I honestly cannot find a single thing to criticise. I do suggest one potential problem for anyone who buys this instrument in the hope (or belief) that because it is either solid or semi-solid (I don't know which), comes fitted with a bolt-on neck, an adjustable trussrod and a through-the-bridge type design, then it could be refitted with metal strings. I SERIOUSLY doubt whether that would be a good idea, even if light gauge strings were used. Only the manufacturer could answer that question. Personally, the whole setup of the Stagg is so clearly geared towards its potential as an electro-classical or electro-Spanish that personally I see no point in changing that. If you want an electric guitar for about the same price, there are many to choose from -- Squier's come to mind. So that's it.
