Stannis the Fanless Mannis - Game of Thrones (S5E9) - Always a bad choice for King?

My two cents on the recent episode of Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 9 where Stannis Baratheon shocked and angered a lot of people by burning his own daughter alive for the sake of strategic help in a battle for a secondary objective with raping flaying psychopaths nobody likes. Some say Stannis has forfeited his right to the Iron Throne for doing this but I say he never was a good choice anyway. He's too strict, doesn't really inspire devotion, and he's dominated by a crazy religious fanatic. As much as I started to like him the last act of his reminded me that his weaknesses are too great. However I have no intention in giving up on the show as some have threatened to do (but probably haven't). Looking forward to the season finale but not looking forward to the freaking 9-10 month wait for Season 6.
