Store manager takes a stand against sagging pants

By Justin Hinton, KFDM News Lunch time at Judice's in Port Arthur is a busy time with people buying groceries or getting ready to eat lunch. They'll be leaning over the counter and their pants will be all the way down here and I'll go 'oh my gosh'. It's another opportunity for store manager Judy Cormier to display a no sagging sign. All of the signs have the same message: customers are required to keep their pants at their waist and pull them up. If they don't, the store manager will ask them to leave. We had a sign up there and it said, 'no shirt, no shoes, no pants over your butt, no service', but basically nobody paid attention to it. So Cormier and the secretary went to work making yet another one. Cormer added a new sign today: Pull up or don't come in. She doesn't want saggy pants to be a reflection of her business. As soon as I put 'em up, I had a customer say what are those for and I said they're pants. And she goes thank goodness. She said because something needs to be done about that.That customer wasn't the only one. I just don't like it, I know they can do better, that's why they sell belts. Even the customers we spotted with sagging pants said it's a rarity. I don't really sag, it's just pants are a little big on me. I just forgot to wear my belt. The manager didn't throw him out, but Cormier is hopeful he and others will think twice before entering her store. Even if it takes a little help from a few large signs.
