Update: 10/8/2013: 53:49. Still bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kbyEzmjvqk Update: 9/25/2013: I've re-routed this entire category and the changes should save about 4 minutes. I'm working on an updated run, we'll see what it comes out to. This was a pretty good run, with very few major errors. 1: I died in the backyard due to a series of unfortunate events while attempting to lower the coin bonus at the end to save frames. Cost over a minute. 2: Tall Tall Mountain, I forgot about 2 of the red coins, then entered an area that didn't exist and had to leave the level and return. 3: I died to the final boss in a really stupid manner. Didn't cost much time though. Overall though outside of those few things this was an exceptional run, though I hope to sub 55 soon. On to the route. The route was devised to hit a few shine requirements and have minimal disadvantageous warping. I start by doing the first Tutorial and getting the shine from Eddie, then I do Jolly Roger Bay. It's a quick shine that would otherwise be very out of the way. Once I've done that I clean out Bob-omb Battlefield, bringing me to 7 shines. Secret of the Mushroom, another incredibly fast shine, brings me to 8 allowing me to access Bowser 1 and by extension, Rocket FLUDD. After the storyline stuff I clean out Snowman's Land, Secret of the Igloo is debatable but it has Rocket FLUDD on the way which greatly speeds up Snowman's Head. After that I get 2 shines from Shifting Sand Land (the red coins are rather slow). From there I do Tropical Isles, another secret shine, which warps me closer to the Backyard (requires 10, I have 17 now) From there I descend into the basement, collect 2 shines from both Hazy Maze Cave and Wet Dry World before entering Bowser 2 (requires 20 shines to my 22). This grants me access to the top floor of the castle, including Lethal Lava Land where I collect 3 further shines bringing my total to 25, unlocking Kamek's Fortress at 24. I use the warp to eliminate a bit of backtracking in the castle, so I don't pass by the door multiple times. To finish off the 32 shins requirement I grab 3 from Tall Tall Mountain (worst level in this run) and all 3 from Tick Tock Clock. From there, I grab Rocket FLUDD from the castle, enter Bowser's Castle and match the end of an any% run, complete with all the skips. Other possible considerations for the route included Rainbow Ride (was subbed out for TTC) and Boo's Mansion (subbed out for BOB 1 and WDW). Frosty FLUDD is a possible change, to be placed after Bowser 2, but nothing is worth removing from the route for it as far as I can tell.
