"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"George Santayana (1863-1952) This play celebrates the joys of childhood in the shadow of war and genocide. I Have a Name does not focus on the horrors, but instead is silently remembering several children. The play takes the audience on a voyage of realization what happens when we are not aware of the forces of evil, and that this can happen again anywhere in the world, anytime. The play was inspired after viewing the book 'In Memoriam' by Guus Luijters and Aline Pennewaard. The book contains a list of names, as well as 3000 photos, of the 17.964 Jewish, Roma and Sinti children that were deported from the Netherlands between 1942 and 1945, and killed in concentration camps.
