As a sophomore in college I ending up making GoDaddy's most viewed YouTube video/commercial in just TWO weeks before their contest deadline in Fall of 2010!
Now, having sprinted from idea to completion with such an impromptu venture, I was proud of what we accomplished; but I also understood my lower end equipment & obvious time constraints would likely limit my submission from bigger intentions like TV-airtime.
A year or so later, with the video sitting around a few thousand views (as it felt weird to put effort into promoting a "losing video" for my portfolio), I eventually decided it might be worth trying for more attention despite not being 'award worthy'... a couple small SEO tweaks later & BOOM! A million views in the first few weeks & over 5 million views over the next year or so; all without spending a single dollar!
LONG, MULTIPLE-MOVIE-LENGTH STORY SHORT:
GoDaddy attempted to buy full ownership of the video from me in 2014 & after a month of intense negotiations where I tried my best to appease their issue with the video staying online, it became clear they had no interest in paying anywhere near the $600,000 in cash prizes that were awarded to participants of the original competition.
Walking from the table after all that with them well aware I would sue over any DMCA attempts to remove the video, I was completely blown away by them ultimately deciding to collude with YouTube to DELETE the video outright (after initially age-restricting it per review policies) all just weeks before their official IPO in on April 1st of all days (2015)...
Well, as soon as they decided to cross that line to back-stab an young and aspiring entrepreneur, I knew I had more than enough story to transform into full blown MOVIE! This mega mashup (*trilogy arrangement pending) consists of narrative excerpts and quotes from over 300 Movies, TV shows & independent video sources. Total duration is ~3-4 hours spanned across 3 core topics (GoDaddy, Filmmaking-Art, Copyrights)
