For more information on how TV technology is evolving, please visit: https://www.newhomesource.com/guide/articles/whats-hot-in-home-entertainment TRANSCRIPTION: 00:00 Brett Tutor: I'm back with Tim Costello, my favorite tech geek. 00:02 Tim Costello: Welcome. 00:03 Tutor: Thanks again, Tim. So I am all about television, home entertainment. You had to see some cool stuff at show. 00:07 Costello: Who isn't? It's the center of the home. Homes are built around the screen these days. 00:13 Tutor: Tell me what you saw. 00:13 Costello: Well, the trends, if you go back a few years, it's just bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger. I think they've kinda worn that out. You can go get an 80-inch television now, a 90-inch television. So what's happened now is form factors changing. I saw televisions at the Consumer Electronics Show, literally today, they're just a sheet of glass. So you look at them, they're literally that thick. 00:35 Tutor: There's no back? 00:35 Costello: There's no back at all. That's really what's new. It's think about what you can do now in design, placement, architectural assets, if you're literally just hanging a sheet of glass. I saw televisions that were clear that you actually were kind of like the Tom Cruise movie where you were doing all the manipulation and you could see through. I saw televisions that were clear, you could see through the television. They could be opaque, but just as thick as a sheet of glass. Unbelievable. Now, wanna blow your mind? 01:03 Tutor: No more! No more! Yes, I do. 01:04 Costello: Okay. How about rolling your television up while it's on? Flexible screens. 01:10 Tutor: Really? 01:10 Costello: Literally they're like a piece of plastic. The television program is playing on it, and you can roll it up like a tube of paper and it's still playing. You can see the TV show playing on the inside. So imagine what you could do. You can wrap it around a corner, you can do anything you want. You can create a concave, convex screen, anything that you want. I think the issue of how we use them in a home and how we place them and where they go and how we watch them is gonna change a lot over of the years as the form factors of televisions change. 01:35 Tutor: I don't know if you've noticed, Tim has been to the future and he's come back to bring us cool stuff with your home. So if you missed any of this, you can always go to https://www.newhomesource.com and get caught up. Tim, thanks again. 01:46 Costello: Alright, and you're gonna see it on a big, flexible screen. #ces #smarthome #newhomesource
