Here’s an quick and easy way to make telangana pappu charu recipe (south indian special recipe)
Ingredients:
Toor dal or kandhi pappu-1.5 cup
Tamarind-big lemon size
Drumsticks or mulakkada -10
One small sorakaya or anapakaya or dudhi or lauki
Tomato-1
Green chillies-12
Red chillies-5
Onion-1
Garlic pods or velluli-5
Cumin seeds or jeelakara-1.5tbspn
Mustard seeds or aavalu-1tbspn
Turmeric-0.5tbspn
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves
Oil-3tbspn
Preparation:
First, wash the vegetables (Drumsticks and sorakaya) and cut it into pieces.
Wash toor dal with fresh water one or two times. And pressure cook dal for 2 whistles. After that, grind cooked dal to a fine paste.
And then soak tamarind for 10-15mins. Then extract the tamarind juice.
Now, heat the pan on medium heat. Then add, 3tbspns of oil to it. Once oil heats, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chillies, turmeric and crush the garlic and add it to tadka. Then add green chillies, curry leaves, drumsticks, sorakaaya to it. Mix properly. Add 1tbspn of salt to it and cook for 2-3 mins. After that, add little water to vegetables and cook it till they become soft. Once vegetables become soft, add tamarind juice to it. Cook until tamarind juice boils. Once it is boiling, add the grinded toor dal to it. And mix properly. Cook for 5-7 mins. Add water to adjust the consistency of pappu charu (It shouldn’t be too thick or thin). And, adjust the salt to taste. If charu or rasam is too sour, then add little water and salt to it. Boil pappu charu for 10-12 mins and make sure that it should not flow outside.After that, add finely chopped coriander leaves to it. And keep it for 2 more mins. Then switch off the flame.
Now pappu charu or mild sambhar is ready to serve! Enjoy pappu charu or sambhar with rice, idly, vada, or any fried rice recipes. It will be yummy. Kids will love to eat pappu charu.
