THE CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF FONTEVRAULT, TINTAGEL. I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE PEACE AND QUIET OF THIS WONDERFUL PLACE. Visited MARCH 2012 IN GLORIOUS SPRING WEATHER. THE CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF FONTEVRAULT can be found on Vicarage hill leading from TINTAGEL ( just north of the WOOTONS COUNTRY HOTEL ) to SAINT MATERINAS CHURCH which sits atop the Cliffs overlooking KING ARTHURS CASTLE. We are semi regular visitors to this area and it was on this visit, rather sad to see the old vicarage garden in such a poor condition with many mature trees having been removed , although restoration of the gardens does seem to be taking place. The Church of England Vicarage and Chapel was sold quite recently. and this included the Chapel. Visitors old and new must be very grateful to the new owners for keeping this wonderful and very beautiful Chapel open for visitors. but it is certainly well past its former glory, as visitors who do not understand the significance of this holy place litter the Altar with votive candles and other items.
